The 41st anniversary of the establishment of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) on 15 November 1983 was celebrated with a reception in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan.

Turkish diplomats, officials of institutions in Turkey’s Bishkek, academics, lecturers, business people and students attended the reception hosted by TRNC Bishkek Representative Tahir Osman Tahir.

Tahir said, “Today, we are rightfully proud, happy and excited to celebrate the 41st anniversary of the establishment of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which is the most meaningful work of our struggle for freedom and existence and the concrete expression of our sovereignty and independence.” he said.

Reminding that the Turkish Cypriots were deprived of their most basic human rights and freedoms during the dark years of the homeland Turkey, which lasted until the legitimate and timely Happy Peace Operation in 1974, Tahir said that the heroic Turkish Cypriot people, with the endless support of the homeland Republic of Turkey, He explained that he preserved his unity, identity, values ​​and beliefs without fear, and that he crowned the freedom struggle he fought determinedly for many years by declaring the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on 15 November 1983.

Freedom Struggle leader Dr. Stating that they commemorated Fazıl Küçük, Founding President Rauf Denktaş and the Turkish soldiers who were martyred in the struggle for freedom, Tahir thanked the Republic of Türkiye, which always gave strength to the TRNC.

Tahir stated that Türkiye and the TRNC will continue to defend their national cause with faith and determination, and emphasized that they expect the international community to see the realities on the island and adopt and display a realistic approach on the Cyprus issue.

Tahir stated that the Kyrgyz and Turkish Cypriot peoples are two brother peoples in terms of their history, culture and humanity, and that they meet in one language and share the same traditions, customs and values.

Saying that it is always of great importance to develop mutual cooperation, Tahir said, “We are working with all our strength to strengthen our existing brotherly relations with the Kyrgyz people every day.” he said.

Tahir underlined that they see their fellow students who came from Kyrgyzstan to TRNC to receive higher education as “volunteer ambassadors”.

At the reception, guests were served delicacies from Turkish and Kyrgyz cuisine.
