BelAZ to Build Assembly Site in Uzbekistan

BelAZ to Establish Assembly Platform for Mining Equipment Production in Uzbekistan in 2024

Belarusian mining equipment manufacturer BelAZ is set to launch the construction of an assembly platform for mining equipment production in Uzbekistan by 2024, according to Spot citing Mikhail Dudinetz, the CEO of Haul Trucks.

The joint venture between Belarus and Uzbekistan will see stakes divided equally between Haul Trucks-CA and an Uzbek partner, with plans for a complete assembly cycle of mining dump trucks, including large unit assembly, paint chambers, and a testing range for mining equipment.

The localization level of BelAZ’s mining equipment production in Uzbekistan is expected to gradually increase to 30% in the future, with the project’s implementation site yet to be determined and being discussed with local partners.

Initially, the assembly platform will produce up to 20 dump trucks per year, with plans to increase capacity by 20-25% in the future. The project’s total cost will depend on the level of localization and premises areas, with funding provided on an equal basis.

The proposal to localize BelAZ mining equipment production in Uzbekistan was made by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in February. This joint venture aims to boost mining equipment production in Uzbekistan and strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the manufacturing sector.
