Biodiversity Conservation Visual Competition in Turkmenistan Orient

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Global Environment Facility (GEF) project “Conservation and Sustainable Management of Land Resources and High Value Ecosystems in the Aral Sea Basin for Achieving Multiple Benefits” has announced a competition in honor of World Environment Day. The theme of the competition is “The Importance of Biodiversity Conservation in the Specially Protected Natural Territories of Turkmenistan”.
Citizens of Turkmenistan are invited to participate in the competition by creating drawings, infographics, or digital designs focused on the unique flora and fauna of Turkmenistan and efforts towards their protection. The submissions should address categories such as directional signs for territory demarcation, information stands detailing nature conservation measures, and exhibition stands for visitor centers.
Entries must be prepared in Turkmen, Russian, or English and must use verified and reliable data with proper citation of sources. The deadline for submission is May 20, 2025, and all materials should be sent via email to undptm@gmail.com or by mail to the UN House in Ashgabat.
The evaluation criteria include compliance with the competition terms, quality of information presentation, accuracy of data, originality of concept, and creative approach. The winning submissions will be utilized in the Amudarya and Gaplangyr Reserves to raise public awareness of the importance of specially protected natural territories.
The awards ceremony will take place on June 5, 2025, at the UN House in Ashgabat, coinciding with World Environment Day. For more information, interested individuals can contact Dovlet Rejepov, the Public Relations Specialist, at registry.tm@undp.org or undptm@gmail.com.
Let’s come together to celebrate and promote the conservation of biodiversity in Turkmenistan’s natural landscapes!
