Blaze on HMS Queen Elizabeth Aircraft Carrier

A fire broke out on the HMS Queen Elizabeth aircraft carrier docked in Glenmallan, Scotland, causing minor damage. The UK Ministry of Defense confirmed the incident and it was reported that there were no injuries or explosions in the incident.
According to a report by the UK Defense Journal, a person on the ship mentioned, “No fatalities, minor fire damage to the ship, but it’s over.”
The Royal Navy Spokesperson stated, “A small, isolated fire on HMS Queen Elizabeth was quickly brought under control and extinguished.” Additionally, the UK Ministry of Defense stated that they are working with Scottish Fire and Rescue to determine the cause of the fire.
During routine pre-voyage checks before the Exercise Steadfast Defender, it was discovered that there was a serious problem in the starboard propeller shaft of HMS Queen Elizabeth. As a result, the ship did not set sail on February 4 as originally planned, and HMS Prince of Wales took its place instead.
The Fleet Commander mentioned, “HMS Prince of Wales will replace HMS Queen Elizabeth on NATO missions and will depart for Exercise Steadfast Defender as soon as possible.” HMS Prince of Wales was due to take over as the flagship, but now it will have to expedite its preparations to fulfill its duties.
The year 2024 is set to be a challenging one for the Royal Navy as they navigate through these unexpected developments and ensure the readiness of their fleet.
