Boosting Support for Fresh Vegetable Production – BRTK
The Chairman of the Republican Turkish Party, Tufal Erhürman, recently discussed the issue of citrus fruits during his speech at the General Assembly of the Parliament. Erhürman brought attention to the fact that tens of thousands of tons of mandora were left on the trees, with only 15 thousand tons secured, putting producers in a difficult position when it comes to payment.
In response, Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Hüseyin Çavuş, emphasized the importance of production and stated that they have increased support for fresh vegetable production and are prioritizing registration. Additionally, these products have been included in the General Agricultural Insurance, with plans to introduce the Market Law as a basis.
Minister Çavuş revealed that they anticipate a harvest of 57-60 thousand tons of king mandora with a squeezing capacity of around 20 thousand tons. He expressed confidence that there will be no issues in Valencia and assured compensation for the manufacturer if the product remains on the branch. A committee has been formed to determine which products will remain on the branch without error.
Overall, Minister Çavuş affirmed that they have done everything possible in the field this year to address the challenges faced by citrus fruit producers.
