Botir Zokirov Resigns as Minister of Construction for Health Reasons

The Minister of Construction and Housing-Communal Services in Uzbekistan, Botir Zokirov, has been relieved of his duties due to health reasons. The announcement was made during a video conference led by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to discuss economic growth rates in the regions.

In Zokirov’s place, First Deputy Minister Sherzod Khidoyatov has been appointed as the acting minister. Zokirov had previously served as the First Deputy Minister of Construction before officially taking on the role of minister in September 2019.

Khidoyatov, on the other hand, had held the position of Minister of Housing-Communal Services for two years, from January 2021 to January 2023. Following the merger of his ministry with the Ministry of Construction, he became the first deputy minister in that same year.

As Uzbekistan continues to focus on economic development and infrastructure projects, the appointment of Khidoyatov as the acting minister will ensure the continuity of work in the construction and housing-communal services sectors. We wish Minister Zokirov a speedy recovery and thank him for his service to the country.
