A 4.3 magnitude earthquake struck Çanakkale’s Ayvacık district, causing panic among residents. The Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) announced the earthquake at the last minute, reporting that it occurred at 17:56 with the epicenter in Ayvacık.
The earthquake, which occurred at a depth of 9.02 kilometers, fortunately did not result in any loss of life or property damage. Çanakkale Governor Ömer Toraman reassured the public through a social media post, stating that there were no negative reports received regarding the earthquake.
Earthquake Expert Şükrü Ersoy highlighted the seismic activity in the region, emphasizing that Western Anatolia is prone to earthquakes. He mentioned past significant earthquakes in the area, urging for earthquake preparedness and awareness.
