BREAKING NEWS | Minister Tunç announces positive response to DEM’s İmralı request
Minister Tunç Approves DEM Party’s İmralı Meeting Request
Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç has announced that the government has responded positively to the meeting request of DEM Party members. Tunç stated that a delegation from the DEM Party will be allowed to visit İmralı either tomorrow or Sunday, depending on weather conditions. The delegation will include DEM Party Istanbul Deputy Sırrı Süreyya Önder and Van Deputy Pervin Buldan.
The process leading to this decision began with a call made by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli on October 22. Bahçeli expressed that if the isolation of Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the terrorist organization, PKK, is lifted, he should be allowed to address the GNAT DEM Party Group Meeting and declare the end of terrorism. He emphasized the importance of utilizing the “right to hope” and creating a pathway for legal regulation.
Following Bahçeli’s statement, the DEM Party submitted an application on November 26 to the Ministry of Justice to meet with Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı. Bahçeli then called for the government to grant permission for the DEM Party delegation to visit İmralı.
With the approval of Minister Tunç, the DEM Party delegation is now able to meet with Öcalan, marking a significant development in the efforts to address issues related to terrorism in the region.
