Max Verstappen Continues to Lead F1 Driver Standings After Miami Grand Prix
Max Verstappen, the Dutch driver for Red Bull Racing Defied expectations yet again after claiming the top spot in the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday, April 25. Verstappen’s impressive performance earned him 25 points, bringing his total points to 119 in the driver standings.
Sergio Perez from Mexico, who finished fourth in the Miami Grand Prix, took second place in the driver standings with 105 points, while Spain’s Fernando Alonso narrowly holds onto third place with 75 points.
Lewis Hamilton from Great Britain, who secured third place on the podium in Miami, sits in fourth place overall with 56 points, closely followed by Carlos Sainz from Spain with 44 points.
Verstappen has held the top spot in the driver standings since his win at the season opener in Bahrain in March. The Dutch driver has been in spectacular form so far, and has shown that he is a true contender for the 2021 world championship.
Red Bull Racing has also taken the lead in the team standings with 164 points, thanks to the podium finishes of both Verstappen and Perez in Miami. Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team sits in second place with 102 points.
With eight races still to go this season, including Grand Prixs in Spain, Azerbaijan, Canada, and France, the competition for the driver and team championships is still open. However, it looks like Verstappen and Red Bull Racing will be the ones to beat in the coming races.
