Essay Competition on "Courage and Heroism of the Young Generation During Wartime" Announced

An exciting essay competition themed "Courage and Heroism of the Young Generation During Wartime" will commence on May 1, 2025. This initiative is aimed at schoolchildren from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and coincides with the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The competition is organized as part of the International Scientific and Educational Congress set to take place in Saint Petersburg at the end of October 2025. The primary goal of the competition is to instill a deep respect for national history among the youth and to promote an understanding of the significant achievements of previous generations.

Participants will have the opportunity to enhance their literary and analytical skills, expand their knowledge of military history, and help in preserving the historical memory of their ancestors’ heroic deeds. To guide their writing, competitors are encouraged to explore themes from Boris Vasilyev’s poignant work, "He Was Not Listed," which powerfully depicts the bravery exhibited by young individuals during wartime.

The submission period for essays will close on September 15, 2025, with the results to be unveiled at the plenary session of the congress on October 31, 2025. Winners will be awarded certificates and commemorative prizes, and the best submissions will be compiled and published in a special collection honoring the anniversary of Victory.

This competition serves not just as an educational exercise but as a vital platform for young voices to reflect on the lessons from history and the legacy of courage that continues to resonate today.
