BRTK hosts Earthquake Awareness Seminar with Civil Defense Organization
A Seminar Held at Famagusta Turkish Maarif College to Raise Awareness During Earthquake Week
As part of Earthquake Week events, a seminar was recently conducted at Famagusta Turkish Maarif College in collaboration with the Civil Defense Organization, the Champion Angels Keeping Alive Association, and the Civilian Disaster Team Association.
The seminar kicked off with an opening speech by Serap İş, the mother of Champion Angel Kaan Selim İş and a Founding Member of the Association for Keeping Champion Angels Alive. İş highlighted the importance of raising awareness during Earthquake Week, emphasizing the devastating impact of natural disasters on communities.
In particular, İş pointed out the tragic earthquake that struck Turkey on February 6, claiming the lives of millions. She attributed the high death toll not only to the earthquake itself but also to the rampant greed for money that often exacerbates such crises.
Drawing attention to a specific incident in Adıyaman where children, teachers, and families lost their lives during a volleyball match due to greed-driven decisions, İş underscored the urgent need for ethical and responsible practices in disaster management.
