Cabinet and Rosatom Ink Deal for Wind Power Station Construction

Rosatom Signs Investment Agreement to Build Wind Power Station in Kyrgyzstan

In a significant development, Rosatom and the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan have signed an investment agreement for the construction of a 100-megawatt wind power station in the Issyk-Kul region of the republic. This marks the first Russian export project in wind power generation, as reported by Rosatom Renewable Energy JSC.

The agreement outlines the implementation of an investment project for the construction and operation of a 100 MW wind farm in Kok-Moinok village, Balykchy, Issyk-Kul region, Kyrgyz Republic. Design and survey work, as well as equipment contracting, are set to begin in 2025, according to the statement.

Key figures involved in the agreement include Taalaibek Ibraev, the Minister of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic, Grigory Nazarov, the Director General of Rosatom Renewable Energy, JSC, and Dmitry Andreyev, the Director General of NovaWind Kyrgyzstan, LLC.

This development comes after a time capsule was laid at the site of the future wind farm in September 2024. The wind power division of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom, acting as an integrator of projects in the wind power industry, is dedicated to efficiently solving tasks from design to maintenance of wind power plants.

Furthermore, Rosatom and the Ministry of Energy of the Republic signed a memorandum in January 2022 for cooperation in the construction of low-power nuclear power plants based on RITM-200N reactor unit. Joint efforts are also underway to enhance the qualifications of scientific and technical personnel.

Rosatom is actively engaged in the implementation of projects for the construction of small hydroelectric power plants in the Kyrgyz Republic, including Leilek HPP, Jerui HPP, and Chandalash HPP.

The signing of this investment agreement underscores the commitment to renewable energy development in Kyrgyzstan and highlights the collaborative efforts between Rosatom and the Kyrgyz government in advancing clean energy initiatives in the region.
