Canadian Students Join Global Palestine Protests

Protests in Support of Palestine at McGill University
In a show of solidarity with Palestine, students at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, have set up camp and begun protesting on campus grounds. This demonstration comes as part of a wave of similar protests at universities across the USA.
One of the main messages of the demonstrators is a plea to the university to not be complicit in what they see as genocide in Palestine. They have published posters with the slogan “We will not allow our university to be a party to genocide” and are calling for support for the Palestinian cause.
The students have gathered in an open area on the Montreal campus, chanting slogans like “Long Live Palestine” and “Stop Investment”. They are specifically demanding that the university cease its financial investments in companies that support Israel’s attacks in Gaza.
The protest has drawn the attention of law enforcement, with many police vehicles being dispatched outside the campus to monitor the situation. This is not the first time students at McGill University have taken a stand in support of Gaza, as they previously held a hunger strike in February in solidarity with the Palestinian people.
The protests at McGill University are just one example of the growing movement in support of Palestine that is spreading across academic institutions around the world. Time will tell how universities and governments will respond to these calls for justice and solidarity.
