Celebrating 80 Years of Victory: New Exhibition Opens at Ashgabat Museum of Fine Arts
Exhibition Commemorates the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War
On April 25, the Museum of Fine Arts in Turkmenistan unveiled a poignant exhibition celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. This significant cultural event drew a diverse audience, including Ivan Volynkin, the Russian Ambassador to Turkmenistan, Deputy Minister of Culture Nursakhet Shirimov, representatives from various diplomatic missions, art historians, and media professionals.
The exhibition pays tribute to veteran artists and sculptors whose remarkable careers were shaped by their experiences during the war. As highlighted in a press release from the Russian embassy, these creative individuals "went through the fire of war to give us all peace and freedom," fighting valiantly in key battles near Moscow and Stalingrad, and liberating Europe, only to return home and continue their dedication to the arts.
Ambassador Volynkin emphasized the exhibition’s role as a "connecting bridge between the past and the present," prompting reflection on the future we aspire to create. He announced that this event marks the beginning of a series of commemorative activities organized by the Embassy in honor of the Great Victory. These will include concerts, film screenings in Ashgabat, the opening of an "Alley of Memory," and the participation of the Immortal Regiment procession.
The exhibition features an impressive collection of 44 paintings and 14 sculptures, all deeply rooted in the theme of remembrance and victory. It will be open to the public until May 12, offering visitors an opportunity to engage with the rich history represented through artistic expression.
As the nation commemorates this pivotal moment in history, the exhibition serves not only as a celebration of artistic achievement but also as a reminder of the sacrifices made in the pursuit of freedom.
