Celebrating the 100th Birthday of Founding President Rauf Raif Denktaş
Celebrating the 100th birthday of the late Founding President Rauf Raif Denktaş, a special commemoration program was held titled “Founding President Rauf Raif Denktaş – Toros is 100 Years Old”.
The event, held in collaboration with the Deputy Prime Ministry, Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment, EcoEurasia Foundation, and Bayrak Radio and Television Corporation, took place at the Girne American University Faculty of Communication.
Speakers at the event highlighted Denktaş’s role as a cornerstone of the Turkish Cypriot struggle for existence and his leadership of the entire Turkish world with his principles and dedication.
Various personalities, including the GAU Faculty of Communication Dean Prof. Doctor Neriman Saygılı and Hikmet Eren, Chairman of the Board of EcoEurasia Foundation, praised Denktaş’s unwavering commitment to the cause and his leadership qualities.
A special short documentary titled “My Father Denktaş”, produced and directed by GAU Faculty of Communication Assistant Professor Muharrem Özdemir, was presented during the event, shedding light on Denktaş’s efforts in building an independent state for his people.
The evening concluded with a musical concert and the presentation of plaques to individuals who contributed to the event’s realization. Additionally, an exhibition showcasing over 250 photographs from the private archive of Founding President Denktaş was on display, offering visitors a glimpse into his life and work.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu emphasized the importance of following the path laid out by Denktaş and preserving the Turkish Cypriot identity and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
The event served as a significant occasion to honor the legacy of Founding President Rauf Raif Denktaş and celebrate his contributions to the Turkish World.
