
Ambassador of Turkmenistan Meets with Parliament of Moldova Orient

Ambassador of Turkmenistan discusses cooperation with Moldovan Parliament
On April 2, 2025, a meeting took place at the Parliament building of the Republic of Moldova between the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Ukraine and concurrently to the Republic of Moldova, Mr. Toyly Atayev, and the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Policy and European Integration of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, Ms. Ina Coceru.
During the meeting, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan and the Moldovan Parliament representative discussed the current state and further potential for inter-parliamentary bilateral cooperation. They also talked about intensifying the work of inter-parliamentary friendship groups between the two countries.
Ambassador Toyly Atayev provided the Moldovan side with a brief overview of the structure and ongoing activities of the Mejlis (Parliament) and the Halk Maslahaty (People’s Council) of Turkmenistan.
Expressing interest in enhancing inter-parliamentary cooperation and exploring partnership opportunities in various fields, Ina Coceru highlighted the importance of strengthening ties between the two nations.
Ambassador Atayev also shared information on Moldova’s positive participation in last year’s International Forum on Attracting Foreign Investments in the Oil and Gas Sector of Turkmenistan in Paris.
Moreover, Moldova has been actively working since 2023 to diversify its energy sources. The Chairperson of the Committee expressed interest in collaborating with Turkmenistan in this area.
Additionally, Mr. Atayev briefed the Chairman of the Committee on the outcomes of the 20th Ministerial Meeting "Central Asia – European Union" held in Ashgabat and highlighted the upcoming High-Level International Forum "Peace and Trust" scheduled for December 12, 2025, in Ashgabat, in celebration of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Neutrality. Moldova has been invited to participate in this forum.
The discussions between the Ambassador of Turkmenistan and the Moldovan Parliament signify a commitment to strengthen mutual cooperation and explore new avenues for partnership between the two nations.
