Chinese Company to Build Waste Incineration Plants in Uzbekistan

China Everbright Environment Group Limited, a Chinese company, has announced plans to build multiple waste incineration plants in Uzbekistan. This initiative is part of efforts to generate electricity through the incineration of household waste and promote sustainable waste management practices in the country.

The Minister of Ecology, Aziz Abdukhakimov, recently met with the head of the company, Huang Haiqing, to discuss the implementation of these projects. The minister expressed interest in leveraging China’s expertise in waste incineration technologies to address Uzbekistan’s waste management challenges. Initially, two plants are set to be constructed in the Fergana and Namangan regions, with the possibility of further expansion to other areas in the future.

Huang Haiqing reaffirmed the company’s commitment to the project and mentioned that a team of engineers will soon visit Uzbekistan to assess potential project sites. Additionally, a memorandum was signed between the Andijan regional government and Jin Ming for the construction of a waste processing plant, with an estimated project cost of $250 million.

In line with these initiatives, American company Sayar is also planning to produce energy from medical waste in Tashkent, Samarkand, and Bukhara. The government of Uzbekistan has introduced proposals for establishing special economic zones near landfills to produce energy and fertilizers from waste. A pilot project in the Andijan region aims to construct a power plant and a facility for producing organic fertilizers from waste.

Furthermore, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has announced plans for a new waste collection and processing system, which will involve the creation of “eco-industrial zones” in each region. These zones will focus on waste processing operations based on multiple landfills, aiming to improve waste management practices and promote environmental sustainability in Uzbekistan.
