Chinese Intelligence Chief Urges Action to Combat “Taiwan Independence” in Urgent Message
China’s Minister of State Security, Chin Yishin, recently shared his thoughts on the Taiwan issue in an article published in the “Working Times” newspaper, which is run by the Party School of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). In his evaluation, Yishin made it clear that China is prepared to take strong actions against any movement towards Taiwan’s independence and will resist any foreign intervention.
Yishin emphasized the importance of fighting against “Taiwan spies” who are seen as promoting Taiwan’s independence. He stated that these individuals will be punished according to the law. Yishin also stressed the role of China’s intelligence services in supporting the reunification of China, stating that efforts must be made to promote peaceful reunification with Taiwan.
The timing of Yishin’s visit to Taiwan coincided with the inauguration ceremony of Lai Ching-te, who won the presidential elections in January. The ruling party in Taiwan, the DPP, is viewed by the Beijing administration as being pro-independence, with Lai being labeled as an “incorrigible separatist”.
China has long claimed Taiwan as part of its territory, dating back to the separation that occurred in 1949 after the civil war. Despite de facto independence, the issue of reunification between mainland China and Taiwan remains unresolved. The Chinese government remains steadfast in its commitment to promoting reunification efforts and resisting any moves towards Taiwan’s independence.
