An International Forum on Chinese-Style Modernization and a Shared Future for Central Asia
On April 16, 2025, the city of Almaty hosted an important international forum focused on “Chinese-Style Modernization and a Community of Shared Future for China and Central Asian Countries.” Organized by the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Almaty, in collaboration with the Xinhua News Agency and the “Belt and Road” expert club, the event brought together key diplomats, scholars, and experts from Central Asia.
During the forum, participants delved into the successful models of Chinese modernization and explored how these models could be applied to foster development in the region’s developing countries. The consensus among attendees was that the Chinese modernization model could offer valuable insights to Central Asian nations striving for economic and social progress.
Ms. Jiang Wei, the Consul General of the PRC in Almaty, highlighted the significance of the upcoming second “China – Central Asia” summit, set for June 2025. She also expressed China’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Central Asia, underscoring the potential for enhanced collaboration in areas such as economy, culture, and education.
The forum underscored the mutual benefits that could arise from increased cooperation among China and Central Asian countries, pointing to the positive impact such collaboration could have on regional stability and development.
As discussions unfolded at the forum, one thing became clear: the collective effort to learn from China’s modernization journey could pave the way for a more prosperous and interconnected future for Central Asia.
