One such garden is the Bálint Family’s Garden in Százhalombatta, located 35 kilometers south of Budapest. Visitors can enjoy picking daffodils, with tulips and peonies soon to follow. Entrance is free during opening hours, and flowers are available for 50 forints (0.12 euros) per flower stalk. Additionally, visitors can purchase delicacies and jams from local producers while enjoying views of the Danube and exploring the archaeological park nearby.
For those looking to pick flowers in a different setting, the TulipGarden Dunakanyar in Kosd, 45 kilometers north of Budapest, is a great option. Daffodils and hyacinths are currently available for picking, with tulips soon to follow. The entrance fee is 1000 forints (2.5 euros), and flowers can be collected for 300 forints (0.74 euros) per stalk. Hiking opportunities abound in the area, including a visit to the Vácrátót Botanical Garden.
In Tatabánya, located 60 kilometers northwest of Budapest, the Farkas Garden Center offers the chance to pick balcony plants and participate in a pick-your-own daffodils campaign. Entrance is free, and flowers can be picked for 35 forints (0.08 euros) per stalk. The area also provides numerous hiking opportunities, including a visit to the Turul monument and a hike to the Szelim cave, known for its appearance in “The Witcher.”
Venturing further afield to the Balaton region, visitors can explore gardens such as the Lavender Garden at Kőröshegy. While the name may imply lavender fields, the garden now offers tulip picking starting on April 4.
