Chris Cristie Joins 2024 Presidential Candidates
Former Governor of New Jersey Officially Applies for Republican Presidential Nomination
Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has officially applied for the presidential nomination from the Republican Party in the upcoming 2024 election, according to reports in the US press. Christie, who served as Governor from 2010 to 2018, joins other prominent Republicans, including New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu and former Vice President Mike Pence, in announcing their candidacy for the nomination.
Last week, a group launched a campaign to support Christie’s bid for the presidency, citing his experience and leadership as reasons why he should be considered as a potential candidate. Christie, who was the first Republican nominee for president in 2016, fell behind former US President Donald Trump in the primaries.
Other individuals who have announced their candidacy for president include former Governor of South Carolina Nikki Haley, former Governor of Arkansas Asa Hutchinson, and South Carolina Senator Tim Scott. With the 2024 election approaching, it is expected that more individuals will join the race for the presidency, both from the Republican Party and the Democratic Party.
