
CIS Countries’ Strategy: Fueling Energy Sector Development by 2035

The member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States are working towards developing a strategy for the fuel and energy complex until 2035. This initiative was announced by the Ministry of Energy of Belarus, as reported by BELTA.
During the 64th meeting of the CIS Electric Power Council at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, discussions were held regarding cooperation in the energy industry within the Commonwealth. The concept of cooperation in the energy sector until 2035 was approved during the Council of Heads of Government meeting on May 24 in Ashgabat.
Minister of Energy of Belarus, Viktor Karankevich, also mentioned plans to develop a Concept of cooperation between CIS countries in ensuring regional energy security.
At the meeting of the Electric Power Council, participants explored the current trends in the energy industry, discussed opportunities for partnership in the CIS energy sector, and considered the role of nuclear energy in meeting climate obligations. The parties expressed their willingness to collaborate in building the necessary power grid infrastructure.
This move towards cooperation in the energy sector aims to strengthen regional energy security and ensure a more sustainable future for the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
