City Court Judge and Wife Arrested in Bishkek

Judge and Wife Arrested for Fraud in Bishkek

Bishkek – The State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) has reported that a judge of the Bishkek City Court and his wife have been detained on suspicion of fraud. According to the SCNS, it was discovered that the judge’s wife demanded $2,000 from a woman in exchange for a favorable court decision. The money was received via an e-wallet, and the judge then asked a colleague to make a positive decision in the case.

However, the colleague refused to help, stating that the decision would be made according to the law. The judge-rapporteur also suspended the consideration of the case, which was not in favor of the plaintiff.

Following the incident, both the judge and his wife were arrested. The judge’s wife has been placed in the pre-trial detention center of the SCNS, while the judge himself is facing disciplinary action by the Council of Judges of the Kyrgyz Republic. The disciplinary commission has given its consent to bring the judge to criminal responsibility.

This case highlights the importance of upholding the rule of law and integrity within the judiciary system. It serves as a reminder that corruption will not be tolerated, and those who abuse their power will be held accountable.
