Clearing Mines: Progress in Azerbaijan’s Liberated Lands

ANAMA Reports Successful Demining Operations in Azerbaijan’s Liberated Territories

The Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) has provided an update on the humanitarian demining operations that took place in the liberated territories from April 7, 2025, to April 13, 2025. According to the report, a total of 12 anti-tank mines, 86 anti-personnel mines, and 224 unexploded ordnance were discovered and safely neutralized during this period.

In addition to the successful elimination of hazardous explosive devices, demining teams were able to clear 1,245.5 hectares of land from the threat of mines. These operations were carried out by ANAMA in collaboration with the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), the State Border Service (SBS), and four private companies.

The efforts of all involved parties have played a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of the liberated territories in Azerbaijan. By diligently conducting these demining operations, the risk of accidents and injuries caused by landmines has been significantly reduced, allowing for the affected areas to be repurposed for civilian and agricultural use.

ANAMA and its partner organizations are committed to continuing their demining efforts in order to further clear the liberated territories of any remaining explosive hazards, ultimately paving the way for the sustainable development and prosperity of these regions.
