Colombian authorities capture notorious drug trafficker known as “El Mocho”
Security forces in Antioquia capture drug trafficker “El Mocho”
In a recent operation in the rural area of Taraza town in the Antioquia region, security forces successfully captured Federico Cardona, also known as “El Mocho”. This operation was carried out by a joint effort of the army and police.
During the operation, authorities seized 2 kilos of liquid cocaine and over 1 kilo of other narcotics. El Mocho and his associates are now in custody and are expected to face charges related to drug trafficking, kidnapping, extortion, and forming criminal gangs.
It is speculated that El Mocho may be extradited to the USA for trial, similar to his uncle Dairo Antonio Usuga, also known as “Otoniel”. Otoniel, a prominent drug trafficker, was apprehended in October 2021 in a collaborative effort between the military and police. He was subsequently extradited to the USA and sentenced to 45 years in prison for his involvement with the Clan del Golfo organization.
