Construction of “Tashkent-Andijan” Toll Highway Set to Commence by Year End

Shavkat Mirziyoyev Unveils Plans for Infrastructure Development in Andijan Region

Presidential candidate Shavkat Mirziyoyev has announced his ambitious plans for the development of the Andijan region in his pre-election program. These plans aim to bring the residents of the valley closer together and improve their living conditions.

One of the key initiatives is the introduction of four electric trains along the “Andijan-Fergana-Kokand-Namangan-Andijan” railway ring. This will enable the organization of eight trips a day, transporting approximately 10,000 passengers. The project will require an investment of $40 million. Mirziyoyev shared this during a meeting with Andijan voters, as reported by the Kun.uz news agency.

In addition, Mirziyoyev announced a major project in collaboration with the World Bank. A $2.5 billion mega project will commence this year to construct an alternative toll road known as the “Tashkent – Andijan” road. Once completed, the travel time from Andijan to Tashkent is expected to be reduced from the current five hours to three hours.

Furthermore, the Andijan International Airport will undergo a complete renovation to meet modern standards. The renovation project will cost $350 million and aims to enhance the airport’s infrastructure and facilities.

Water supply and sanitation will also be improved in the region. By 2030, centralized drinking water will be provided to 600,000 residents in 427 neighborhoods. Additionally, water supply will be improved for one million residents. To achieve this, a second branch of the main water pipeline “Khanabad-Andijan” will be constructed. The project, which includes an investment of $35 million, will benefit over half a million people in the cities of Andijan, Khanabad, Karasuv, Kurgantepa, Jalakuduq, Andijan, Asaka, and Oltinkol.

Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of these improvements, stating that the coverage of centralized drinking water in the region will increase from the current 87% to 97%.

These infrastructure development plans in the Andijan region demonstrate Mirziyoyev’s commitment to improving the lives of its residents and fostering economic growth. If these plans come to fruition, the region is set to experience significant progress and prosperity in the coming years.
