The unnamed officer had demanded a sum of money from a local businessman to avoid his arrest on fabricated charges. However, little did he know, the businessman had already reached out to other police officers regarding the issue.
Once the businessman handed over the money to the corrupt officer, anti-corruption units were promptly dispatched to the area. realizing the gravity of his actions, the officer resorted to consuming the cash in an attempt to destroy the evidence. Videos of the incident circulating on social media show the police officer struggling to breathe as the banknotes get stuck in his throat.
The police officer was swiftly rushed to the hospital, where it was discovered that banknotes worth 500,000 pesos were lodged in his stomach. Local press reported that the banknotes, made from a solid material, are not easily digestible.
In an unexpected twist, Colombian media revealed that the same officer and a colleague of the businessman had filed a fabricated sexual offense allegation prior to the incident. This revelation has magnified the severity of the situation and raised serious doubts about the officer’s credibility.
Further inquiries into the case revealed that the businessman was detained at the police station for a two-hour period after paying only half of the 2 million pesos originally demanded from him.
