Critical warning from AFAD to 7 provinces: Heavy rain expected to start at night
The Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) has issued a critical warning to seven provinces in Turkey regarding heavy rain expected to start at night. According to the latest information and evaluations from the General Directorate of Meteorology, an orange code rain warning has been issued for Bartın and Zonguldak provinces, while a yellow code rain warning has been issued for Düzce, Sakarya, Bolu, Karabük, and Trabzon provinces.
AFAD’s statement warns that starting from the night hours of Sunday, September 22, heavy rain is expected in the Düzce area and the east of Sakarya, very strong and occasionally severe rain in the north of Bolu and Karabük, and intermittent and occasionally heavy showers and thunderstorms throughout Trabzon province. The Bartın and Zonguldak area are expected to experience very strong and occasionally severe rain.
Governors and district governors of the provinces where the orange code warning was issued have been informed through an information SMS. AFAD has alerted all relevant groups of the Turkey Disaster Response Plan (TAMP) to be on high alert with a sufficient number of personnel and vehicles. Citizens are strongly advised to be cautious against possible negativities such as sudden floods, inundations, lightning, local hail, sudden strong winds, and disruptions in transportation.
It is important for residents of these provinces to stay informed about the weather conditions and follow any instructions or warnings issued by local authorities to ensure their safety during this period of heavy rainfall. Stay safe and take necessary precautions to protect yourself and your property from the potential impact of the upcoming weather conditions.
