Bishkek – In a recent meeting at the Ministry of Education and Science, Kyrgyzstan’s Deputy Minister of Education, Albert Makhmetkulov, welcomed Ambassador Kypros Giorgallis of Cyprus to discuss enhancing cooperation in higher education.

According to the Ministry’s press service, the primary focus of their discussion centered on fostering a collaborative partnership between universities in both nations. They explored various opportunities for academic mobility and the expansion of joint educational programs aimed at benefiting students from both countries.

A key topic of interest was scholarship provision, with the Cypriot side announcing the availability of eight scholarship programs for Kyrgyz students for the 2025/26 academic year. These include one bachelor’s program and seven master’s programs, reflecting Cyprus’s commitment to supporting higher education in Kyrgyzstan.

This initiative marks a significant step in strengthening educational ties between Kyrgyzstan and Cyprus, fostering greater academic exchange and development opportunities for students in both nations.
