Delegation from Turkmenistan Visits Hungary for Political Consultations
A delegation from Turkmenistan visited Hungary on June 18, 2024, to participate in political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries. The Turkmen side, led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Gurbanov, met with Hungarian Deputy Secretary of State Adam Stifter in Budapest.
The discussions during the consultations covered a wide range of topics aimed at strengthening the bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and Hungary. Both parties exchanged views on key issues on the international agenda and explored ways to enhance trade, economic, and investment cooperation. They also discussed improving the legal framework and implementing joint projects in sectors such as energy, industry, and pharmaceuticals.
The importance of deepening ties in the educational and cultural spheres was also emphasized during the meetings. Both sides acknowledged the significance of political consultations between their foreign ministries as a crucial component of the interstate dialogue.
In addition to the political consultations, Deputy Minister Gurbanov met with Raymond Jehle, the Deputy Head of the Regional Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). They discussed the productive cooperation between Turkmenistan and FAO and identified areas for future collaboration in the realms of food security and climate change.
On June 19, 2024, Deputy Minister Gurbanov also held a meeting with Sandor Lezsak, the Vice-Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary. The discussions centered on reviewing the current state of Turkmen-Hungarian partnership and exploring opportunities for further development, with a focus on implementing agreements reached during negotiations between the leaders of both countries in 2023. The importance of cultural, educational, and inter-parliamentary exchanges in fostering friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Hungary was highlighted.
