Dendias Disease Outbreak in Ankara

Tensions Rise between Greece and Turkey due to Statements by Greek Defense Minister
Efforts to maintain positive relations between Greece and Turkey are facing challenges following recent statements made by Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias. According to information obtained by NTV, there is growing concern in Ankara that Dendias’ actions and remarks since January could escalate tensions and disrupt the current positive atmosphere between the two countries.
Dendias’ actions, including his visit to the non-military island of Lemnos on January 1, his flight with a Greek F-16 in the Southeastern and Central Aegean on February 19, and his participation in the first flight of the National Combat Aircraft “Kaan”, have been seen as provocative by Turkish officials. In a statement during the National Combat Aircraft event, Dendias remarked, “We are fighting to get ahead of the Turks,” further raising tensions.
Additionally, Dendias expressed concerns despite efforts by both countries to create a positive atmosphere and take steps to calm waters in the Aegean. Ankara also noted that Dendias issued instructions for NOTAM and NAVTEX to be issued for exercises in the territorial waters of islands with non-military status last week, further exacerbating the situation.
As tensions continue to rise, both Greece and Turkey will need to work together to find diplomatic solutions and prevent further escalation in the region.
