Desert Dust Storm Approaching Turkey: The Possibility of a Red Sky

The Sahara Desert dust is making its way towards Turkey from Athens
CNN TÜRK Meteorology Advisor Orhan Şen has revealed that the dust coming from Athens is heading towards Turkey. This dust originates from the Sahara Desert in North Africa and sometimes reaches Europe before making its way to Turkey through the Mediterranean or Greece. The dust is expected to affect regions such as the Aegean, Marmara, Western Black Sea, and Central Anatolia.
The dust, which appears yellow or red due to its iron component, is a common occurrence during these months. In Athens, meteorological conditions have caused the dust to be pushed downwards, resulting in a higher concentration. However, strong winds in Istanbul, the Aegean, and the Western Mediterranean are expected to disperse the dust and prevent it from reaching unhealthy levels.
Tomorrow, Central Anatolia, including provinces such as Kastamonu, Konya, and Ankara, will be affected by the dust. Ankara is expected to experience the high pressure effect, while the dust will move eastwards from Istanbul. The dust will be more prominent in regions like Kastamonu, the Western Black Sea, Ankara, and Konya.
Although the dust contains useful minerals, it is advised not to inhale it. As long as precautions are taken, such as wearing masks, the dust should not cause any harm. It is important to monitor the situation and take necessary steps to protect oneself from the effects of the Sahara Desert dust.
