Sandstorm Sweeps Through Saudi Arabian City of Hafar al-Batin
The city of Hafar al-Batin, located in the northeast of Saudi Arabia, experienced a sandstorm, causing the sky to be covered in sand and traffic to come to a halt. The storm also affected a shopping center in the city’s Rafha district, which was filled with sand clouds and caused shoppers to seek shelter in areas that were not affected by the storm.
Local authorities have warned the public not to leave their homes and for vehicle drivers to be cautious while traveling. The number of injured has not been disclosed.
Sandstorms, also known as dust storms, are common in arid and semi-arid regions and can be both damaging and dangerous. They can severely impact visibility, transport, and agriculture, and cause respiratory problems.
Residents of Hafar al-Batin have been advised to take precautionary measures to stay safe during the sandstorm.
