Ministry of National Defense Terminates Contract of Expert Sergeant involved in Erzurum Events
The Ministry of National Defense has announced that the contract of Expert Sergeant M. Akif KELEŞ has been terminated due to his involvement in the events in Erzurum. On May 7, 2023, the officer was taken into custody as he was in charge of the Erzurum Central Command. An administrative investigation was initiated immediately, and following its results, the Expert Sergeant’s contract was terminated.
The Ministry also stated that there is no place for an investigation against M. Akif KELEŞ within the scope of the investigation launched by the Erzurum Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office in 2021 with the alleged charge of “Being a Member of an Armed Terrorist Organization.”
