Doctor Urgently Requests Help for Temirlan Sultanbekov – Condition Critical

Bishkek, January 10, 2025 – The leader of the Social Democrats political party, Temirlan Sultanbekov, has been on a hunger strike that may have severe consequences, including death, warns medical experts.

A video released by Kadyrbek Atambayev reveals the deteriorating health condition of Temirlan Sultanbekov, who is currently in pre-trial detention. The doctor, Asel Atayeva, has reported concerning symptoms that require immediate medical attention to prevent tragic outcomes.

Sultanbekov is experiencing swelling in his legs, immobility in his toes and ankle joint, severe dizziness, weight loss, tremors in his hands, chest pain, arrhythmia, liver pain, vision issues, skin rashes, and cold hands. His current state has led to a significant weight loss of 12 kilograms.

Continuing the hunger strike could result in a coma, hypoglycemia, irreversible damage to vital organs, and ultimately death. Lack of medical staff and specialized consultations in the detention center worsen Sultanbekov’s health prognosis.

Medical professionals and party members are urgently calling for qualified medical care to be provided to Sultanbekov, as he has repeatedly requested. Immediate intervention by neurologists, cardiologists, and ophthalmologists is crucial to save his life.

Temirlan Sultanbekov, along with Irina Karamushkina and Roza Turksever, were placed in pretrial detention until January 13, 2025, on charges of vote buying by the Sverdlovsky District Court of Bishkek. Sultanbekov initiated the hunger strike immediately after his arrest.

It is essential to prioritize Sultanbekov’s health and well-being by ensuring access to necessary medical treatment and specialized care. Failure to address his medical needs promptly could have dire consequences.
