Education Ministry’s Plan to Implement 12-Year School Education

The Ministry of Education and Science of Kyrgyzstan has unveiled its plans for the upcoming shift to a 12-year school education system. The announcement was made by the ministry’s press service, outlining several key steps that will be taken in order to successfully implement the new model.

One of the main initiatives includes the development of new educational standards tailored specifically for the 12-year school structure. Additionally, there will be a focus on providing teachers with advanced training modules and comprehensive methodological support to ensure they are equipped to deliver high-quality education.

In anticipation of the transition, schools will also be supplied with modern textbooks totaling 2.5 million copies, valued at 744 million soms. Monitoring the quality of school education will be a top priority, with the establishment of the Department of Education Quality and the implementation of PISA-2025.

Furthermore, the ministry aims to strengthen civic education among students, emphasizing the importance of national traditions, responsibility, tolerance, and active participation in school activities. These values will be instilled in schoolchildren to promote well-rounded individuals within the educational system.

In an effort to streamline the process, the 2025/26 school year will introduce several innovations. Students may have the opportunity to skip a grade, and those who have completed a preschool preparation program could be directly enrolled in the second grade, bypassing the first altogether.

The Ministry of Education and Science is committed to facilitating a smooth transition to the 12-year school education system and ensuring the best possible outcomes for students across Kyrgyzstan.
