Electricity Supply Restrictions to Continue During Peak Hours, says Ministry of Energy
The Ministry of Energy has announced that restrictions on the operation of all methane filling stations in Uzbekistan will continue due to reduced gas pressure. This decision comes after power supply restrictions during peak hours were also announced to remain in force until weather conditions improve.
On February 18, a total of 243.9 million kWh of electricity was produced in the country, with power plants burning 41.3 million cubic meters of gas, 25.6 thousand tons of coal, and 12.1 thousand tons of fuel oil to achieve this. However, due to emergencies in the gas supply system and increased demand for electricity, the Ministry of Energy has imposed restrictions on electricity supply during peak hours, reaching up to 550 MW.
The situation was further compounded by the emergency shutdown of two high-voltage 110 kV power lines, “L-Gazli-1” and “L-Gazli-2” in the Bukhara region. To address this, 10 gas pumping units were commissioned, with “L-Gazli-1” currently fully restored and repairs ongoing for “L-Gazli-2”.
In light of the reduced gas pressure, the Ministry of Energy has opted to maintain restrictions on the operation of all methane filling stations in the country. The department has also pledged to inform separately about any changes in the schedule of automobile gas filling compressor stations.
This announcement serves as a reminder of the current challenges facing Uzbekistan’s energy sector and the steps being taken to address them. As the Ministry of Energy continues to monitor the situation, it advises the public to stay informed about any further developments.
