A Sexual Health Training Program for Individuals with Special Needs was recently organized in cooperation with Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Nicosia Turkish Municipality, and Cyprus Psychologists Association.

The training program, which focused on a multidisciplinary approach and inter-institutional cooperation, kicked off with the first module being held at the Nicosia Turkish Municipality Solidarity and Education Center. The event saw the participation of families with children who have special needs.

Key speakers at the training included Çelen Çağansoy from Nicosia Turkish Municipality, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rojjin Mamuk, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nezire İnce, Dr. Fzt. Çisel Demiralp Övgün from EMU Faculty of Health Sciences, Eşmen Tatlıcalı from Cyprus Psychologists Association, and Clinical Psychologist Bleda Tilki.

During the four-session interactive training, various topics were covered, including the importance of sexual health, psychological and behavioral dimensions of sexual health for individuals with special needs, as well as discussions on nutrition and physical activity dimensions.

The success of the first module has prompted organizers to plan the second module, which is set to take place in Nicosia on April 25 specifically for adults with special needs.

This initiative aims to provide much-needed support and education for individuals with special needs to ensure their overall well-being and quality of life.
