Energy Ministry Responds to Increase in Complaints About Compulsory Solar Panel Installations
The Ministry of Energy in Uzbekistan has taken action to address the overwhelming number of public inquiries regarding solar panel installations. Following an influx of unanswered calls to the Ministry’s hotline, additional phone lines have been established to better handle citizens’ queries.
In a span of just a few hours, a total of 1,232 calls were made to the Ministry, with only a fraction being answered due to limited staff capacity. The surge in calls highlighted concerns from citizens regarding government incentives for solar panels, the replacement of electricity poles, and reports of mandatory solar panel installations.
Amidst public dissatisfaction, the Ministry clarified that there is no obligation for citizens to install solar panels and that electricity supply should not be withheld as a means of coercion. In response to the situation, power has been restored to businesses in various districts across the country.
Moving forward, the Ministry has introduced new phone numbers to handle inquiries more efficiently and has condemned the practice of forcing businesses to install solar panels. Such actions have been deemed illegal and in violation of national regulations.
As the Ministry works to address public concerns and improve communication channels, it remains committed to ensuring fair and lawful practices in the realm of solar panel installations and electricity supply.
