Enhancing Customs Valuation Expertise in Central Asia through Border Management Program
Customs officials from Central Asia deepen their knowledge of customs valuation principles
On January 29, 2025, a significant online lecture took place with the participation of customs officials from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The lecture, organized as part of the Border Management Program in Central Asia (BOMCA 10), focused on enhancing understanding of customs valuation principles, including the calculation of transaction value, adjustments, and alternative valuation methods.
During the event, expert Marta Kannel from Latvia highlighted the critical role of precise customs valuation in correctly applying tariff rates and determining the taxable base, which directly impacts government revenue collection. Participants received valuable practical recommendations on the implementation of various valuation methods, promoting compliance with customs regulations and ensuring fair trading conditions.
This online lecture is just one part of a series of training sessions designed to enhance the effectiveness of customs services in the Central Asia region. The Border Management Program in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) is financially supported by the European Union, demonstrating the commitment to improving customs practices and promoting fair trade in the region.
