During the ongoing excavation works in Pompeii, the remains of three people who died in the Vesuvius explosion in 79 AD have been found. The announcement was made by the Italian Ministry of Culture, calling the latest discovery a significant archaeological find.
The skeletal remains of two women and a 3-4-year-old child were discovered in an oven where they sought shelter during the event that covered Pompeii under layers of soil, ash, and lava. These findings provide insight into the tragic fate of the citizens of Pompeii during the Vesuvius eruption.
Additionally, the excavation team also discovered two frescoed walls depicting mythological scenes that belonged to a wealthy family living in the ancient city. The team was congratulated on their work by Minister of Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano and Director of the Ancient City of Pompeii, Gabriel Zuchtriegel.
