Salt Therapy Center Becomes a Popular Tourist Attraction in Turkey
The underground salt caves located in the Salt Mountain in Tuzluca district have been transformed into a Salt Therapy Center, attracting thousands of visitors since its opening in 2022. The Iğdır Governorship worked on the development of the therapy center, which is now a unique and popular destination for both local and foreign tourists.
Equipped with walls, ceiling, and floor made entirely of salt, the therapy center offers a one-of-a-kind experience for visitors who come to explore the ancient caves. The center has hosted 310 thousand visitors since its inauguration, with visitors expressing astonishment at the architectural marvels and historical significance of the site.
One visitor, Lale Temelkuran, traveled from Izmir to explore the Salt Therapy Center and was amazed by the beauty and historical importance of the caves. She noted, “I did not know that there was such a place in our country. It is incredible that a civilization here, before Christ, created such a thing and that it is still standing. I think it is a must-see place for the world.”
Another visitor, Selma Yüksel, emphasized the unique experience of exploring the caves and urged for the promotion of the site to audiences beyond Turkey. She shared, “We were astonished by the things left like these pillars in these places where technology cannot reach, what has been done. We want to spread this. Not only Turkey but also other countries should hear about it. We know that such a value exists here. Let them see.”
With its cultural and historical significance, the Salt Therapy Center in Turkey continues to captivate visitors from around the world, offering a glimpse into the ancient civilizations that once thrived in the region.
