Facing Death: Patients in Healing and Other Hospitals
The government office in Gaza has issued a written statement condemning Israel’s intensified attacks on hospitals. In particular, the statement called out international institutions for failing to take action to protect the people at Şifa Hospital from these deadly attacks. The International Red Cross Organization, the World Health Organization, the United Nations (UN), and all international organizations were urged to take immediate action to put an end to the disaster faced by Şifa Hospital.
The statement emphasized that the international community and organizations have a responsibility to ensure the safety and protection of healthcare workers, as well as the injured and displaced individuals who are at risk of being targeted by the Israeli army in hospitals, especially in Şifa.
Previously, Şifa Hospital Director Muhammed Abu Silmiyye had expressed the hospital’s struggle to bury the bodies that had accumulated due to the attacks by the Israeli army on the hospital campus.
The situation in Gaza continues to be a cause for grave concern, and it is crucial for the international community to take swift and decisive action to prevent further loss of life and to protect the rights and safety of all individuals, including healthcare workers, in the region.
