Famagusta Municipality Implements Social Insurance Investments for Employees

Famagusta Municipality Prioritizes Social Insurance Investments for Employees

Famagusta Municipality has announced that it is committed to implementing strict economic measures and maintaining a responsible financial structure. As part of these efforts, the municipality has begun social insurance investments to secure the future of its employees.

In a recent statement, the Municipality revealed that it has allocated 1 million 675 thousand TL for the completion of social insurance investments for employees who will either give birth or get married for the first time. Additionally, 3 million TL has been paid for the restructuring and installments of old debts, with an upcoming payment of 2 million 270 thousand TL scheduled for this week. In total, 7 million TL will be invested in social initiatives.

The Municipality emphasized that these payments will eliminate barriers preventing employees from accessing state-provided health and pharmaceutical services without any issues. Both permanent Municipality employees and Gamabel company employees will now benefit from current insurance investments.

President Sülayman Uluçay commented on the importance of accountability and service delivery to citizens. He stated that every penny paid by citizens to the Municipality should be accounted for and returned as a service to the community.

Uluçay also acknowledged the Municipality’s commitment to protecting the rights of individuals and employees, as well as ensuring a peaceful working environment. Efforts have already been made to pay salaries promptly and address setbacks in the insurance and reserve fund. With the recent introduction of a law by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, insurance issues have been resolved by taking advantage of amnesty and installment options. Starting from July 2023, employees will regularly deposit their insurances.

The Municipality is also actively working on provident fund investments to further fulfill employees’ needs and promote a comfortable and peaceful working environment. Council Member Mine Karaca stated that this direction is a significant step forward in ensuring social investments for employees. She also mentioned that the Municipality has restructured its past debts, benefiting from a premium amnesty valid until March 2023, to uphold the social rights of employees and enable them to receive necessary health and medical services from the state.

Karaca shared that 1 million 675 thousand TL has been paid for the completion of social insurance investments for employees going through significant life events such as childbirth or marriage, and 3 million TL has been allocated for the restructuring and installments of old debts. In total, a payment of 7 million TL has been made. Current investments will commence from July, following a payment of 2 million 270 thousand TL for the months of April and May. Additionally, Gamabel employees are experiencing a delay of 6.5 million TL in their reserve fund investments. The Municipality is currently in negotiations with the respective department to resolve this issue and aims to restructure the payments once the down payment figure is determined.

In conclusion, Famagusta Municipality is committed to the well-being and future of its employees. By prioritizing social insurance investments and resolving outstanding debts, the Municipality aims to create a harmonious and supportive work environment for its employees.
