Fanatical Jews Raid Masjid al-Aqsa
Dozens of Jewish settlers performed Talmudic rituals in the courtyard of Masjid al-Aqsa in the Old City of occupied East Jerusalem, according to the Palestinian official agency WAFA. The Israeli police also searched and examined the identities of Palestinians who entered the Masjid al-Aqsa at that time. The peace treaty signed between Israel and Jordan in 1994 placed the Masjid al-Aqsa under the auspices of the Jerusalem Islamic Foundations Administration that is affiliated with the Jordanian Ministry of Foundations, Islamic Affairs, and Holiness. Nevertheless, since 2003, Israel has unilaterally allowed Jews to enter the holy shrine with police accompaniment, without the Administration’s permission. The Islamic Foundations Administration of Jerusalem describes these entries as “raids” and emphasizes that the sovereignty of Muslims is violated as a result.
