In a shocking turn of events, local media reports have revealed that 50 people have lost their lives due to poisoning in Camacupa, located in the central region of Angola. Luzia Filemone, a regional official, made the tragic announcement, stating that the deaths occurred in January and February.
According to Filemone, the victims consumed a herbal liquid in an attempt to prove that they were not involved in witchcraft activities. It was believed that by drinking this mysterious potion, it would serve as a test to determine whether a person was practicing witchcraft or not. Unfortunately, this misguided belief led to the untimely deaths of over 50 individuals.
Blaming traditional healers for the fatal outcome, Filemone expressed her dismay, saying, “More than 50 victims were coerced into drinking this toxic liquid based on the advice of traditional healers. This ritual, rooted in superstition, has resulted in a devastating loss of lives.”
