In a statement, Mercan expressed his admiration for Ferdi Tayfur, emphasizing the singer’s immense value to Türkiye. Unable to attend the funeral, Mercan and his fellow shopkeepers saw this commemoration program as a way to show their love and respect for the late artist.
“We tried to express our love and respect for our artist by distributing halva to approximately 1000 people. We offer our condolences to his fans and family. May his soul rest in peace,” Mercan stated. He also noted that the outpouring of support for Ferdi Tayfur on social media proved that the singer’s music resonated with people of all ages, from 7 to 70.
