
First Lady Aigul Japarova Addresses World Women’s Forum in Ulaanbaatar

First Lady of Kyrgyzstan Speaks at World Women’s Forum in Mongolia
Bishkek – 16:19, 22 August 2024 – The First Lady of Kyrgyzstan, Aigul Japarova, recently participated in the World Women’s Forum «Towards Green Future» in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The event, taking place on August 22-23, is under the auspices of Mongolia’s leader, Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, in cooperation with the UN. It is attended by heads of state, government officials, and ministers from 15 countries, along with representatives from over 20 international organizations and women leaders.
During the forum, Aigul Japarova shared her optimism that the event would serve as a valuable platform for dialogue towards building a fair, prosperous, and peaceful society. She also highlighted the importance of global efforts for the upcoming 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.
Discussing the Sustainable Development Goals set by the UN, which includes ensuring gender equality and empowering all women and girls, Japarova emphasized Kyrgyzstan’s commitment to these objectives. The country adopted the National Strategy for Achieving Gender Equality by 2030 in September 2022, making it a priority area of development for the Kyrgyz Republic.
Japarova also pointed out the Green Economy Development Program approved in 2019, which outlines seven priority sectors for sustainable development, such as green energy, agriculture, industry, tourism, transport, waste management, and cities. Additionally, initiatives have been implemented to establish a national mechanism for financing green projects since 2021.
The First Lady highlighted the growing interest among women in investing in environmentally friendly ventures, including production, services, and organic products. She emphasized the significant role that women play in environmental initiatives in Kyrgyzstan, noting the increasing importance of these efforts in recent years.
