First Lieutenant’s Last Farewell: Latest News from Turkey
The funeral of Infantry First Lieutenant Ömer Fatih Ayar, who made the ultimate sacrifice in a clash with terrorists in northern Iraq, was held with full military honors in Trabzon, Turkey.
Lieutenant Ayar’s body was transported to Trabzon Airport from Şırnak by a military plane, where a ceremony was organized in Köprübaşı district to honor his memory. The ceremony was attended by Lieutenant Ayar’s family, including his father, mother, and older brother, who is also serving in northern Iraq. Additionally, government officials, military personnel, and thousands of citizens paid their respects to the fallen hero.
Lieutenant Ayar, who had 5 siblings, was laid to rest in the family cemetery in the district following the afternoon prayer. The emotional ceremony was a somber reminder of the sacrifices made by brave men and women in uniform to protect their country and its citizens.
