
First MGK Meeting of the Year Concludes

The first MGK Meeting of the year has ended
The National Security Council, chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has concluded its meeting, which lasted 3 hours and 45 minutes on January 25, 2024.
During the meeting, political, military, and economic developments relevant to Turkey’s national security were evaluated within the framework of the 1st Türkiye Century. The participants also discussed the potential issues that could arise in 2024 and the measures to be taken in response.
Additionally, information was presented about the operations conducted domestically and internationally to counter threats to Turkey’s national unity, including terrorist organizations such as PKK/KCK-PYD/YPG, FETO, and DAESH.
The council emphasized that Turkey’s national security policy cannot be disrupted by the plans of terrorist organizations and stated that they will continue to combat any threats to the country, regardless of when and where they occur.
The meeting also addressed Turkey’s efforts to strengthen ties with neighboring Iraq and highlighted the need for establishing a security environment free from terrorism in the region.
The council expressed concern about Israel’s actions in Gaza and called for reforms in the international system to prevent humanitarian crises. Turkey also reiterated its commitment to supporting peace in Gaza and providing humanitarian aid.
In addition, the latest developments in the Red Sea, as well as the situation in Libya, Somalia, and Sudan, were discussed, with Turkey expressing its commitment to supporting the territorial integrity of friendly and brotherly countries and resolving ongoing issues.
The council also emphasized the importance of ending the Russia-Ukraine War and maintaining peace and stability in the Black Sea region.
Finally, the meeting underscored Turkey’s dedication to its achievements in the defense industry and advancements in science and technology, with a focus on space exploration and development.
Overall, the first MGK Meeting of the year addressed a wide range of critical issues related to Turkey’s national security and demonstrated the country’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the region.
